Visit this website frequently, for all sorts of helpful information. View summaries of daily classwork, see the homework for the upcoming week, or download documents handed out in class. This page will serve to provide general monthly updates about both English and history class. Parents, if you have not yet done so, please e-mail me a 6-10 character password for use on the "Grades" page of this website (if you want to be able to access your child's grades online)! History This month in history students will continue their study of the early British colonies. We will watch the colonies grow and mature, from helpless infants, into stubborn toddlers, overly confident tweens, and eventually into rebellious teenagers. We will connect our study of this period to both the summer English reading (Fever: 1793) and our first all class read in English class, about the Salem Witch Trials. Students are studying the map of Europe for their quiz on October 31st. English Our Writer's Workshop unit is now well underway. In October, we will (finally) complete our "names" pieces, and will begin work on our "foods" piece, which we should wrap up right around the 1st of November. We will also be wrapping up our study of nouns toward the end of the month, at which time we will shift to pronouns. Our weekly vocabulary lists will continue, and soon we will be starting our first all class read, about the Salem Witch Trials.
